An article in Lancet approaches the DNA  methylation (the incorporation of molecular “marks” on the DNA) who constitutes a marking system that holds instructions on how and when the genetic information contained in the DNA should be read. Unlike the genomic structure, which is inherited, methylation takes place in a process that continues throughout the development of individuals, controlling the expression of genes during their entire life.
