The increased life expectancy of the population is also associated with an increase in morbidity. this demographic trend is a great challenge for the health care system in every European country. But the UK appears not to have the means necessary to resolve the problem. In this respect, the British Medical Journal published a piece of news with these figures:

  • Social care request denied.. 81 people per day die waiting for social assistance only in United Kingdom. What will be the future?In the 30 months since the last elections, around 74,000 people have died in England waiting for social care, which is equivalent to;
  • 81 people a day or
  • 3 every hour. It is estimated that 1.7 million requests for care have not been met from 8 June 2017 to 12 December 2019.

Carolina Abrahams, director of “Age UK”, also says that these data are worrying and emphasized that social care is not a “nice to have” option, but a “fundamental service” (see more HERE).
