Down people discrimination, a sad feature of our developed societies. Basic human rights are not for them.

Our observatory already published the risk of discrimination before the birth of this collective given the new Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) (read our article HERE). We feared that the number of children aborted for having Down’s syndrome will rise due to the implementation of a new prenatal testing program now promoted in England. Warnings from disability rights groups followed a government announcement detailing plans to implement a non-invasive prenatal testing technique called “cell-free DNA” to all health boards in England. Figures published in The Times covering justify our warnings, in the period 2013 to 2017 show an increase in the number of women who decide to abort after undergoing the new testing. During 2019 in England and Wales, 3,863 unborn children died from abortion following a disability diagnosis. 656 of these children died after being diagnosed with Down’s syndrome. In this respect, Iceland without NIPT has almost achieved the extermination of people with Down Syndrome (read HERE).
