One aspect that objectively indicates the ethicality of assisted reproduction practices is the number of pregnancy losses. According to a recent study , this rate in 2013 remained stable with respect to 2012, around 30%, both when in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection were used. The 17th ESHRE report on ART shows a continuing expansion of the number of treatment cycles in Europe, with more than 685 000 cycles reported in 2013 and an increasing contribution to birth rate in many countries. However, the need to improve and standardize the national registries, and to establish validation methodologies, remains manifest(Human Reproduction, Volume 32, Issue 10, 1 October 2017, Pages 1957–1973,https://doi.org/10.1093/humrep/dex264).
