The Oklahoma House of Representatives has given its final approval to a bill that almost totally bans abortion, so those who carry out this procedure will face fines of 100,000 dollars and sentences of up to 10 years in prison.

The anti-abortion bill, which has passed with 70 votes in favor and 14 against, makes Oklahoma the last Republican state to follow strict anti-abortion legislation after Texas, whose Supreme Court has upheld the approved law in September 2021 that prohibits abortion from six weeks of gestation.

In addition, the US Supreme Court is evaluating a case that could repeal Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion in the United States in 1973.
