Last January 25 a news of Associated Press, published in several journals, said that South Dakota‘s Governor Kristi Noem has introduced a bill that would ban abortions based on a diagnosis of Down syndrome. This bill is one of the already approved laws in several American states.
From a bioethical point of view, the defense of the unborn and particularly DS nasciturus is good news. America is one of the countries that have significantly dropped abortion last years.
DS abortion banned to save human diversity in risk
We have published several articles about the effect of current prenatal genetic tests to detect chromosome abnormalities of the fetus (read HERE). In many developed countries, 90 % of the fetus with this abnormality is being aborted. It is a true post-modern society’s genocide.
Noem affirms “The Declaration of Independence summarizes what we all know in our hearts to be true: God created each of us and endowed all of us with the right to life.”[…]”This is true for everyone, including those with an extra chromosome.“
She also says that she looks forward to the day when the Supreme Court “recognizes that all preborn children inherently possess this right to life, too.” As recently Honduras has done (read HERE).
